Australia chips in
More than one billion EMV-compliant chipped payment cards have been issued worldwide,
but there is still much work to do behind the scenes
Many countries in Europe and Asian nations such as Malaysia have already completed EMV migrations after setting aggressive timetables for compliance.
Unlike others, in Australia it was initially left for the issuers and acquirers to decide when it made sense to rollout EMV chip cards to their customer base and upgrade the point of sale and ATM infrastructure.
