Cash and convenience

Further consolidation among independent operators and innovation in
ATM functionality will characterise the Australian ATM market in 2011.

Despite the continued rapid rise of electroniuc payments volume in Australia, we are still a long way from a cashless society. And the role of the humble ATM as the primary cash distribution method is not dimini9shing.

In fact statistics from APCA show that in June 2010, there were 28,764 ATMs in Australia. This represents the highest number of ATMs in Australia ever and more than a doubling of ATM numbers over the past decade (from 11,819 in June 2000).
